Laser skin rejuvenation allows you to achieve the smooth, beautiful complexion you’ve always dreamed of. At North County Dermatology Clinic, Dr. Timothy E. Knight and his board certified physician assistants offer several laser treatment methods to help patients in Lakeland, Florida address common cosmetic concerns. If you would like to banish wrinkles, dark spots, acne scars, large pores and improve overall tone and texture, call the office to schedule a free cosmetic consultation to discuss which laser treatment is best for your particular concerns.
Laser rejuvenation can address a wide range of skin problems that result from sun exposure and the aging process. At North County Dermatology Clinic, we use several different types of lasers to address your concerns ranging from brown spots, uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, scars, enlarged pores and overall tightening and toning. Dr. Knight and his staff can perform laser resurfacing on different areas of the body, including the face, neck, decolete (chest) and back of the hands.
Regardless of which type of laser Dr. Knight uses, this kind of therapy delivers outstanding
results. Some patients see immediate results after a single session, but the full benefits of the nonablative lasers may take several months as new collagen is produced gradually.
Laser resurfacing is a powerful way to transform your skin and correct imperfections that are affecting your confidence or body image.
The best way to know if you’re a good candidate for laser resurfacing is to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Knight or a member of his team. Taking a customized approach to your treatment plan can ensure that you’ll receive the results you desire in the least amount of time possible. All laser treatments can safely be performed on untanned, lighter skin types and some non-ablative treatments are safe on all skin types regardless of skin color.
The laser treatment you and Dr. Knight and his staff choose will depend on your age, the “target” (pigment, wrinkles, skin laxity, scars), your skin color, and your ability or desire to be out of the public eye during the healing process. The “down time”, or healing time, varies from none at all to 5-7 days.
The SmartSkin CO2 fractional laser is one of the newest laser technologies and is revolutionizing the treatment of common skin concerns. One treatment will leave you with a more even skin tone, smoother texture, and markedly reduced wrinkles, brown spots, and acne scars. The SmartSKin C02 fractional laser is a completely customizable treatment and can be used on the face, neck, chest and hands. However, this device will not likely improve facial redness or small facial blood vessels, which are best treated with other light-based devices.
The ablative fractional technology laser emits light energy in a pixel-like dot matrix composed of tiny columns of heat. This method leaves intervening areas of untreated skin between the dots and allows for faster healing and less treatment complications than 100% fully ablative lasers. Topical numbing is required before the procedure which will take about 60 minutes. For several days afterwards, your skin will be very red (like a severe sunburn) with a good deal of swelling, tightness, and peeling. We will provide a post-care kit of products and instructions to soothe and calm the skin and minimize your discomfort.
Because this laser addresses many different problem areas and offers the greatest overall improvement, the healing and “downtime” is generally about 5-7 days.
The SmartSkin Fractional Ablative laser is generally one treatment which can be repeated in on year or more if desired.
Our Sciton BBL intense pulsed light offers a non-ablative approach in the treatment of age and sun spots, redness, and other skin blemishes. This means it uses pulsed light to heat up the underlying skin tissue stimulating collagen production, without harming the surface of the skin. It utilizes a broad range of the visible light spectrum to target and eliminate many of the fine vessels that cause redness and unwanted melanin in those pesky brown spots. This treatment will help restore your skin, blending its natural colors and making it smoother and more vibrant. This treatment is available for the face and hands.
BBL treatments can be done with little down time. Immediately after, your skin may appear red or flushed, however this continues to fade within a few hours. Your pigmented areas will initially become darker and then gradually flake off over the next several days. Some patients may experience some swelling and/or minor bruising. Fortunately, makeup may be applied immediately after treatment so you can return to your daily activities. Results depend on the severity of your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Unfortunately, melasma is very difficult to treat and laser treatments may even make it worse. Therefore, we do not perform laser therapy for this condition.
The Picosure laser uses ultra-short picosecond photoacoustic energy for a non-ablative rejuvenating treatment that requires a series of 3-4 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart, for optimal results. The Picosure works by triggering the body’s own healing response and production of collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks for healthy, supple skin. By penetrating deep into the layers of the skin, the laser heat helps the skin to regenerate and renew itself, which leads to a fresher, more radiant appearance. This laser treats pigmented lesions, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and more. The treatment is safe for all skin types and can be performed on the face, neck, chest, legs, arms, and hands.
This 30 minute treatment does not require anesthetic and you will only have mild redness lasting an hour or so. After the procedure you will be able to apply makeup and return to work- it truly is a “lunchtime” rejuvenation treatment. Following the treatment your skin will have a “sandpaper”-like texture to it that you will feel but others won't be able to see. After a week or so you will notice your skin to be smooth, radiant, and younger looking.
