Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Broad Band Light (BBL)

Our Sciton BBL intense pulsed light offers a non-ablative approach in the treatment of age and sun spots, redness, and other skin blemishes. This means it uses pulsed light to heat up the underlying skin tissue stimulating collagen production, without harming the surface of the skin. It utilizes a broad range of the visible light spectrum to target and eliminate many of the fine vessels that cause redness and unwanted melanin in those pesky brown spots. This treatment will help restore your skin, blending its natural colors and making it smoother and more vibrant. This treatment is available for the face and hands.

BBL treatments can be done with little down time. Immediately after, your skin may appear red or flushed, however this continues to fade within a few hours. Your pigmented areas will initially become darker and then gradually flake off over the next several days. Some patients may experience some swelling and/or minor bruising. Fortunately, makeup may be applied immediately after treatment so you can return to your daily activities. Results depend on the severity of your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Unfortunately, melasma is very difficult to treat and laser treatments may even make it worse. Therefore, we do not perform laser therapy for this condition.
